DR. RICHARD C. HOROWITZ BIO


Dr. Richard C. Horowitz has been working with children, schools, families and organizations for over 30 years. As a professional he has filled a variety of roles including classroom teacher, principal, special education administrator, superintendent of schools and organizational development specialist.

Dr. Horowitz holds a BA in Psychology from the City College of New York, a MS in Educational Administration and Supervision from Pace University and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from Rutgers University. He is an adjunct professor in the School Psychology Department at Farleigh Dickinson University and in the Graduate Education Department at Caldwell College.

Dr. Horowitz, a highly evaluated presenter, has worked with hundreds of families on issues concerning family life and schooling. He conducts workshops to professional and lay groups on such topics as effective parenting practices, creating inclusive classrooms, responding to acting out students and behavior management strategies. As a result of a grant from the Children's Trust Fund, Dr. Horowitz developed and implemented the "PEN Pals" (Parenting Empowerment Network) program, a parenting curriculum for at risk families.

Dr. Horowitz has served his community as an elected Councilman, as a smoking cessation counselor for the American Cancer Society, and as a board member of the Jointure for Adult and Community Education. He served on the executive board of the Association of Schools & Agencies for the Handicapped (ASAH) and is vice-president of Men Mentoring Men, a locally based men's support organization. He has also served as a site evaluator for the U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Schools recognition program.

Dr. Horowitz is a former Peace Corps Volunteer and is the father and step-father of six children.
